Andrew sounding out words in his book about Penguins. He is really doing well with his letters and sight words.

And yes, those are stickers on his forehead. And no, I do not know why they are there.

Brenna's 1st time on skates!

My friend Jenee hosted a Cupcake Swap on Friday. We each made a different variety of cupcakes to eat and swap with the other girls. As usual, Jenee went above and beyond. She actually scrapped her Red Velvet Recipe for each of us and made us these adorable sock cupcakes. Aren't they so stinkin cute!

I hosted our book club meeting this week. Todd was kind enough to cook and Brenna insisted on participating in some way. She came up with the idea of making the menu for the dinner to display for our guests. It was a really nice night.

My little fashionista. Brenna loves all sorts of fashion accessories these days, from hats to scarves to purses. It really is quite cute to see what she puts together!

A shot of my favorite hockey player at practice. It is hard to believe that there are only two weeks left of the hockey season. Andrew is not going to be happy when it ends that is for sure.

Still going....

11: 365

Brenna has a huge closet. It is not unusual for her to spend hours in there playing. Today, this is how I found her after school. Just relaxing after a day at school.

10:365

Brenna's books.... This is a stack of books that she is into now. I love the fact that she loves to read so much. My neighbors were kind enough to lend her a few books from their library to see if she would like them (Spiderwick and The Warriors). She is about 1/3 of the way through New Moon and begged me to get her "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" after they started reading it at school. Looks like a really cool book. She got the 1st Percy Jackson book this weekend with a gift card and has decided to read it for an upcoming book report (that was just assigned today). So glad she had a bunch of good books to pick from.

There is a big playoff game here in MA this weekend.... the Patriots are hosting our team, the Ravens. Needless to say, MA is a great sports state and the fans have been out in full force all week. Todd has been wearing some sort of Ravens apparel all week to work. On Saturday the whole family got decked out in their Ravens gear. I wanted to take a picture of Todd and the kids and was pleasantly surprised when he suggested that we get the tripod out and take one of the 4 of us. After all, I am usually behind the camera, not in front of it. That was a nice change.

Project 365

What is Project 365 you ask? Well, it is a concept wherein you take one picture a day for an entire year. Seems sinple, right? I have tried this before with just a month and it was hard. But it is January, the start of a new year, a time for positive change.... so, I am going to give it a whirl... Since it is the 5th, I will need to play a bit of catch up but I think I can... so here goes...

1:365 (Translation January 1, 2010)

This picture was taken of Brenna shortly after midnight, only a few minutes into the new year. While not the best shot, it captures one of our little holiday traditions, sparkling cider for the kids for New Years. They love the novelty of it, but rarely drink an entire glass.

2: 365 (Translation January 2, 2010)

We always try and get a group picture on New Years. This year we were all a bit worn out after midnight so we waited until the 2nd to take one. We got a very nice one of all of us, smiles and all. Then the kids asked to do a crazy one....

3: 365

I was enjoying a lazy Sunday morning when the kids told me that they were working on a surprise for me. They told me to stay in bed (which is never hard) and that they would call me when they were ready. They led me out to the kitchen and this is what I found on my plate for breakfast. Pretty darn cute, wouldn't you say?

I have mixed feelings about taking down all of the Christmas decorations. For the most part, I am usually ready. After all, we started decorating about a month ago. But part of me misses the little special things that only come out at Christmas. So, for today's picture(s) I decided to take photos of the newest editions to our handmade Christmas ornaments. Brenna made the top one (those are her fingerprints on the bell) and Andrew made the second one. I will treasure these every year as I put them on our tree.

I finally went back to the gym today.... trying to be good. My friend Sue went with me and we chatted the whole time on the treadmill (shocking, I know). I am really going to try and make it there two times a week now. Only time will tell.
